I’m local to Charing in Kent. I own The Hideout, a design and digital agency that keeps me busy and the creative juices flowing. I like to spend my weekends searching for nearby groynes or old abandoned ships to shoot.
I am totally self-taught, and you can probably guess my passion lies in black and white photography. My biggest inspiration was a quote from the legendary landscape photographer Ansel Adams, “A good photograph is knowing where to stand.” This is so true. It doesn’t matter how good your equipment is; it’s all about the final composition.
With this in mind, I never really like to limit myself to one genre of photography, and I’ll always challenge myself to ‘give it a go’.
I use both analogue film and digital cameras depending on the need, the mood and the subject.
I love black and white, the grain, the imperfections of film, and the surprise of developing the images without knowing the final result of what you have shot.
With the analogue techniques I apply to my digital images, I’m not after perfection but rather images that evoke an emotion or tell a story.
Anyway, enough words, I’ll let the pictures do the talking… I’m off to stand in the right place.
